Central Mall and A-9 Lot

Los Angeles Avenue is being converted into a Central Mall. When complete, the Central Mall will be open to pedestrian traffic only (except for emergency and maintenance vehicles), and will provide outdoor gathering spaces for the community.  The landscaping along the Mall will also be upgraded. This is primarily a donor-funded project. Barring unforeseen circumstances, we plan to open the Mall by September 15th. Irrigation and landscaping work will continue into October. The Campus is planning a "Planting Day" when the entire campus community will be invited to participate in planting the new landscaping along the mall. Announcements will be sent soon.

The Parking Lot A-9 is also closed and will be converted into a landscaped courtyard.  This is also a donor-funded project. The theme of this courtyard is sensory. Gathering spaces will be created in a fragrant and colorful environment.

Del Norte and Madera Halls

To serve a growing campus, two new buildings, Del Norte and Madera, have been added to the Campus. These buildings were completed during the summer. The buildings will anchor the development of the North Quad area. Third floor construction will continue in the Fall semester and additional classrooms will be built. The North Quad landscaping is in progress and hydro-seeding is planned next week. We are also refreshing the exteriors of adjacent buildings in the North Quad area.

You will notice some construction activities inside the building as "punch list" work is still in progress. As with any new buildings, certain systems will not work as planned or may even fail. Please notify OPC Work Center immediately (opcworkcenter@csuci.edu or ext. 8461). We will attempt to correct the problem as soon as possible.

New Road and Parking Lot

The new University Drive is open, and  Camarillo Street has been re-paved.  A new 300 space parking lot will alleviate parking problems. The new parking lot begins the process of moving parking to the north side of the campus, and makes the campus pedestrian and bicycle-friendly. The landscaping for the parking lot will be completed towards the end of this year.
